Fratelli Paradiso – Potts Point, Sydney

I normally write about new places I go to on this blog, but in this post I’m sharing a much-loved restaurant that my family and I go to over and over again – because it’s amazing!

Fratelli Paradiso in Potts Point (not to be confused by Fratelli Fresh down the road)

The menu at Fratelli Paradiso changes a lot, but you can always be sure that there’s a great selection of Italian entrees, pasta and mains. I think one of their signature dishes is a pasta dish with scampi (my mum always gets that) but I prefer going for the dishes that don’t stay on the menu for long.

A friend visited us from England so we thought we’d show him some good food. It’s always busy at Fratelli Paradiso so we were lucky to get a table without a booking. I went for a vegetarian pasta – a mix of normal and spinach pasta with mushrooms and cheese. DS had the lasagne, and our friend scored the best meal of all I think – the beef cheeks! I remember him proudly showing us all how easily his knife cut through the tender meat and it all just fell apart with one poke of the form. Some fried potatoes to go with it all and we were all set.

Can’t speak highly enough of this place. I must also admit that I want to live in Potts Point in order to have it at my doorstep! Dessert is also great there, but with Gelato Messina just up the road it’s a hard choice to make. If you do have dessert, I’d recommend the tiramisu for sure! They also serve breakfast (highly recommend) and lunch where they have some awesome pizzas.

Matteo – Double Bay, Sydney

The opening of MATTEO was very much anticipated in Double Bay. Not only did it mean the long vacant site of former Italian restaurant Limoncello was finally being filled (by another Italian, nonetheless!). It also meant that Orazio D’Elia’s (of Da Orazio fame) food was now […]
