Sometimes you don’t want complicated food for breakfast. Sometimes you just want something simple. When we feel like that in Hamburg, we head down the road to our little local French cafe – CAFÉ PAR ICI.

I love that you can just getScrambled eggs (€3.50), made from 2 eggs, if that’s all you feel like, and that’s okay! That’s exactly what I needed when I was still trying to get over my jetlag. Something simple and straightforward that you could probably have made at home. But you were too lazy and it was just too hard to get out your frying pan and do it yourself.
There’s also something for those who are a bit more hungry! DS had the Le Coup de Cœur – big breakfast with rosemary ham, comté cheese, camembert, a piece of quiche, homemade fresh cheese, jam and salted Charente-butter (€8.60) which also comes with a bread roll and baguette. It’s got a bit of everything – I love these sorts of meals. Even though everything is in small portions, it’s all of the highest quality. The little roll of Conviette butter is delicious and creamy – and it’s also been imported from France. And don’t forget to wash it all down with a Fresh orange juice (200ml) (€3.50). I’ve been having one of those almost every day since I’ve been in Germany!
You might think there’s nothing special about CAFÉ PAR ICI but to me, these cafes need to exist. Sometimes, simplicity is best.
