Meen & Rice – Repulse Bay, Hong Kong

Stewed beef brisket noodles in soup (HK$58)

We were lucky enough to have some amazing weather while in Hong Kong! It was so unusual for April. I’m talking about clear skies, warm, sunny days. It made total sense then to spend some days with my cousins and nephew playing in the sand at Repulse Bay. It totally reminded me of my own childhood playing with my cousins…now we’re all grown up! After some time in the sand we headed to Meen & Rice for lunch.

Meen & Rice isn’t anything fancy, but it’s incredibly popular. We went on a public holiday so we had to wait in line, but I hear it’s like that on any given weekend as well! We found expats, tourists and locals alike enjoying the delicious Cantonese fare. I left the ordering to my cousins and we got a great selection including the Stewed beef brisket noodles in soup (HK$58), BBQ Pork Rice Noodle Rolls (HK$46) and Deep-fried dace fish balls with clam sauce (HK$68). My cousin’s favourite had been thinking about the Salt and pepper deep fried squid (HK$128) as well so we also got that!

My favourite dish was actually the rice noodle rolls. It’s such a simple dish and you can get it with different fillings too! I really enjoyed Meen & Rice and will definitely go back when I’m in Repulse Bay again. I thought the menu to be quite well-priced as well. The way in which they’ve developed the beach front area here is great, with loads of shops, different restaurants, bars, cafes and even a gym! A lovely area to hang out in with your friends or family.

I don’t always visit new restaurants. In fact, there’s a whole selection of restaurants we go back to a lot – Bar Brosé was one of them (still mourning that loss). Another one is MS G’S, Merivale’s fun Asian-fusion joint in Potts Point. Every time […]
