Need an idea for Sunday brunch? A few months back AKB and I checked out the new (well, not so new anymore!) Three Blue Ducks at Rosebery. It’s taken up the old Kitchen by Mike site next to Koskela and they have an awesome breakfast menu that they serve til 11:30am!

To be honest, it doesn’t look all that different to me compared to Kitchen by Mike. I suppose there’s only so much you can do with a big open warehouse space without dividing it up. There’s something nice about the familiarity though, and with such a big space you can always drop in without worrying about booking or not getting a seat.

I decided to go with a savoury option, so I had the Hay smoked salmon kedgeree with mixed grains, soft egg, cucumber, pickled ginger, mint & coriander ($22) was really good! I wasn’t sure what to expect but turns out it was kind of like congee! The smoked fish was amazing and the mixed grains made me feel like I was eating something super healthy.
AKB can never get past a good ol’ bircher muesli, so she went for the Mango Bircher with mango, mint, toasted coconut, passionfruit and bird seed mix ($16). By all accounts it was great. I just loved how colourful the dish was, and the selection of fruit!
Three Blue Ducks is lovely, so I would definitely go again. I feel like it’s a wonderful neighbourhood local to have because it’s also one of those trusty cafes that you know will always be good. Have you been there and do you think it’s better or different to the other Three Blue Ducks cafes?
