Trust Chefs Gallery to come up with some fun, crazy dishes. There were some nice dishes on the menu so we were invited back for a second time! Click through to see what we ate! (Check out our first time here)

First up – dumplingsssss! I’m a huge fan of vegetarian dumplings for some reason (inner vegetarian trying to come out again…) so we got the Colourful mixed vegetable dumplings in a crystal pastry ($12.50 for 4 pieces). These are delicious! I really do enjoy the dumplings at Chefs Gallery, keen to try more next time.

Next up were the main dishes that DS and I shared. First up we tried the Handmade noodles wok fried with sliced salted pork belly, garlic chives, wood ear mushrooms, julienned carrots and topped with crispy pork belly crackling ($17.90). Thinking back…I’m not actually sure that’s what we ordered. But hey, that’s what arrived and it was pretty good. Nothing to write home about, but not bad.
We also got the Sweet and sour pork with balsamic vinegar, garnished with dashi, vinegar pickled radish and cabbage ($22.90). Ok so the thing we’re realising with Chefs Gallery is that the pictures on the menu are nothing like what your actual dish will be like. I know that it says ‘images shown are for reference only and may not represent actual food presentation’ but they could at least try?! Why have images at all then? This dish was totally different that what I had expected and the pork was a bit dry unfortunately.

I do always go back to Chefs Gallery and expect to get what’s on the picture on the menu. And then I always get disappointed. I guess the image of the dessert didn’t look that different, but it still wasn’t quite what I was expecting when I ordered Cinnamon sugared Chinese donut that delivers on glorious mouthfuls of nutella, crunchy peanuts, caramelised banana, a drizzling of condensed milk and chocolate sauce and finished with ice cream ($13.90). It even says in this description that it differs slightly from the image but why bother having the image if you can’t have what’s on it?!
The ice cream and the caramelised banana were the only good things in this dessert. Unfortunately I found the fried Chinese donuts nearly inedible (and I think this is the first time I’ve said something like this on the blog!!!). The donuts were literally just fried batter and really difficult and hard to chew. It sounded like such a good dessert too!
Will I be back? I’m not sure…maybe just for the dumplings, but then again, Din Tai Fung is just round the corner too!
