Our last stop on our recent Melbourne trip was breakfast at Journeyman in Prahran (still can’t pronounce it).
To have a truly good breakfast, I think it’s important not to skimp on drinks. You want coffee? Sure! You want a juice too? Why not. Especially when you’re on holidays. I got a chai latte and a green juice, whilst DS got a flat white and some juice which I think was beetroot juice. Unfortunately I didn’t take a photo of our actual menu so I don’t quite remember what we had exactly, apologies!
I had the Persian fetta potato croquette with poached eggs, sweet corn puree, crispy kale, and manchego cheese ($19) which was really delicious, but even though it looks like there’s loads of cheese on there, there just wasn’t enough! The croquette was also quite large and potato-y…I guess you can only expect that when you order a potato croquette!
DS definitely won with the prettiest dish of the meal. Again I don’t know exactly what it was as it’s not on the menu online, but I think it was apple crumble porridge with a whole lot of fruit and seeds on top. In any case, it was super tasty and a lovely wintry breakfast.
Journeyman was a great cafe and seemed super popular as well. We had to wait for about 40 minutes until we got a table, although it was a public holiday. I love that they do breakfasts that are slightly different to the norm so I’d definitely be keen to go back there next time we’re in Melbourne!
