Is anyone else sad that ramen season (i.e. winter) is nearly over? Don’t mind me as I sit here and reminisce about my time at Ramen O-San…
I feel like Dixon House is one of those old-school arcade buildings that hasn’t changed over the past 40 years. I’d been upstairs to the Hong Kong cha chaan teng but never actually been downstairs to the food court. Well worth a visit for sure – apart from Ramen O-San, there’s a host of other awesome little eateries and the drinks outlet isn’t bad either! S and I got peach ice teas 🙂
I got the Tonkotsu Ramen ($9.80) with extra tamago egg ($1.5) because you gotta try out the staple when you’re at a new ramen joint for the first time! I can confirm the following:
- The price was great!
- The bowl size was perfect!
- I was happy with the noodles, meat and whole tamago!
- The soup was also the perfect consistency – not so thick that it’s formed a skin by the time you bring your bowl to the table (*cough* Gumshara) but also not too thin, you could definitely tell it had substance.
S had the lighter option of Chicken Soy Ramen ($9.80) with extra tamago egg ($1.50) which was also super tasty and she was thoroughly satisfied. We didn’t actually go for the Washoku Lovers Members benefit but if you present your card you can get a chasyu rice ball for $1.50 instead of $3! (Don’t know what Washoku Lovers is? Thoroughly impressed by Ramen O-San and will definitely be back soon!
