On a chilly, damn chilly, night in Sydney, it’s time for some hot pot and top quality sushi at Izakaya Samurai.
There’s an extra bit of fun at Izakaya Samurai in that you get to order on an iPad – and the food arrives super quick! We also noticed a little sign tacked on to the side of the screen. Ever heard of Washoku Lovers? It’s a foodie community that’s all about Japanese food culture. They’ve teamed up with a whole lot of Japanese restaurants around Sydney, not just to promote them but also to bring you some exclusive offers if you become a Washoku member! Our offer at Izakaya Samurai, for example, was to get a Suntory Malt’s Tap Beer for $5 instead of $8.80 (or a small glass of Japanese Sake Ippin for $5 instead of $9.50 or 1 free soft drink) – not bad, hey! The menu is extensive so we weren’t sure what to get exactly, but luckily we had some help from the friendly staff! We settled for some beef hot pot because it’s always a good idea in winter! We also got a huuuuuuge sushi platter which was incredibly amazing to eat and also very beautiful to look at. Plus, it’s half price during happy hour 5-7pm! The hot pot was a little bit of a disappointment, unfortunately. The meat was quite tough and the not very flavoursome. I also found it odd that they gave us plastic spoons to use…but I would definitely recommend the sushi!
As the menu was so big I’m looking forward to coming back and trying out some other things. Have you been to Izakaya Samurai before?
