There’s 2 branches of Sophie’s Steakhouse in London – one in Chelsea and one in Covent Garden. Claiming to “provide the best steak in London”, I thought I should probably give it a try (and also because it’s walking distance from my house!).
The menu is extensive and has a big price range: you can get the burger for £10.95 or a 20oz fillet for £59.95. The restaurant doesn’t take bookings, so get in early because places sure fill up fast!
- What we ate
T and I were super excited when complimentary, thick-cut salami arrived at the start of our meal. What a great twist to the traditional bread-and-butter that is usually served!
T then went for a glass of red along with the full rack of ribs (£16.95). They can easily be polished off by one person. I had a piece too – can guarantee that the meat is tender and the marinade is top! I had the Black Angus Burger with added toppings of emmenthal cheese and crispy bacon (£11.95). For me, one of the important things to look out for when judging a burger is the bread-to-filling ratio – and I must say, this was close to perfect! The bun wasn’t too thick, but still substantial to keep the big patty in place, plus the bread was toasted just enough to be lightly crunchy but not overpowering. The bacon and cheese were definitely a good choice, highly recommended. Both our meals came with thin-cut fries on the side and sauces upon request.
Feelings super full after dinner, we chose not to go with dessert. Although it was tempting – they have a pudding menu! FYI, Sophie’s also serves breakfast. Maybe next time!
