High tea (or afternoon tea as they call it here) is always a perfect girly outing. N, YC and I headed out on a cold, snowy afternoon to the small boutique hotel The Capital, situated just metres from the famed Harrods.
At £25, it is one of the mid-range afternoon teas around – you can check out other options here. We were seated in a small, beautifully furnished room. Attention was paid to every detail, from the wall paper, to the books on the shelves – we felt like ladies of the 19th century.
- What we ate:
The afternoon tea includes a tea of choice (with unlimited refills), as well as the usual 3-tiered extravaganza. On the top plate: rhubarb jelly (heavenly!) and lemon curd tart with saffron; in the middle: a chocolate brownie with a dollop of lemon cream on top and a mini mince pie; on the bottom a selection of sandwiches on brown and white bread including smoked salmon and cream cheese, crab meat, chicken, and cheese and caramelised onion. While we dined on these delicacies our scones were being baked fresh (!!) for us – what a delight! Definitely a great place for tea.
