Looking for a new cafe in Darlinghurst? The Profeteia has got you covered.
Darlinghurst is full of amazing cafes – so how do you make yourself stand out? The Profeteia have done it by popping up on a prominent corner (Liverpool and Bourke Street) and by serving food that has a slight Greek edge too it. DS and I really couldn’t miss out on this new joint because we literally live 10 metres away from it…
Going to start with the bad stuff so I can end on a good note – DS said the coffee was…not very good. And being in Darlinghurst where good coffee is so readily available, this will be a problem for them moving forward. Maybe we got a weird batch, or maybe we are totally spoilt by the epic coffee at Edition Coffee Roasters down the road…who knows, but this dampened our experience a bit.
I had the Scrambled eggs, sourdough & cherry tomatoes, sprinkled with nutmeg & a honey balsamic sauce ($13). This was super tasty! Goes to show how far a few small ingredients can take you in a simple dish. The nutmeg was such a great addition to the scrambled eggs, and the tomatoes because just that bit more interesting and tasty with the honey balsamic sauce. Highly recommend.
DS’s dish looked soooo pretty – look at all that fruit! He had the House made muesli topped with yoghurt and passionfruit pulp ($10) but it was really so much more than that, with watermelon, mandarin and apple too! Great value for such a big breakfast.
Keen to head back to The Profeteia for more soon, the Big Fat Greek Breakfast in particular sounds yum. Hope they’ve upped their coffee game too. Oh by the way, it looks tiny from the outside with only a few seats along the window, but there’s actually a huge downstairs seating section so bring all your friends!
