I was invited along to Baffi & Mo in Redfern (somewhat of an establishment in that suburb, in my opinion) not just to try some of the delicious food, but also to sample the Di Bella Coffee that they serve there!
This place is popular – even on a cold-ish, rainy-ish day (the type that Sydney has been presenting us with a lot lately…), so be prepared to queue. But luckily the service is super quick and efficient and we were quickly seated on a table outside with a round of drinks. A macchiato ($3) for DS and a weak flat white for me ($3.50), and DS gets a fun juice too! Make your own juice for $7.00.
Our coffees arrive and you gotta love that funny moustache…makes you look hilarious when you drink. And look closely, and you’ll see the little Di Bella Coffee raw sugar, which always gets a tick from me. White sugar just isn’t cool anymore.
Gotta say that my meal looked way more impressive than DS’s. He got the Eggs Benedict with hollandaise and smoked salmon on an English muffin ($17) and you literally get what you order…which isn’t always a bad thing, I suppose, but the price is a bit steep for literally two small English muffins and two small eggs. Maybe a salad on the side or something!? I ordered the Corn and pea fritters with grilled haloumi and oven roasted tomato sauce ($16) which looked way more impressive. It was also very tasty, and from memory Baffi & Mo were famous for their fritters once upon a time? It should be noted that the tomato sauce was quite spicy, so be careful if that’s not your thing!
I also remember the portions being huge and very lavish at this place, which can’t be said for what we got this time round…No matter – still a great place for coffee and breakfast or brunch!
