If you follow me on Instagram, you will know that EDITION COFFEE ROASTERS pops up a fair bit. That’s because a) we love it, and b) the food and coffee are next to none. We’ve also known the guys who originally started it for nearly 10 years! You may have seen that we got a sneak peak into their Autumn menu the other day – yesterday we went back to try more of the whole thing!

This new menu is slightly different to the previous menus, because the items are designed to share. With that in mind, they also have a variety of sides to choose from to go with your mains – more on that later. DS and I both picked fish dishes. The Icelandic Cod, Confit Garlic Mash, Konbu Jelly ($24) was the dish we had originally tried from the test kitchen. Why did we get it again, you ask? Because it is ridiculously amazing.
Chef Jack New was telling us how he’s been trying to keep most dishes to 3 ingredients and this dish is the epitome of that working beautifully. I could eat spoonfuls of the Confit Garlic Mash out of a jar, and I just love the three different textures of the dish. You’ve got the meat of the cod, then the smooth mash and the slippery jelly. All the flavours work incredibly well together and I would highly recommend you getting this dish (even if it’s not the most Instagrammable!)
I love a bit of kingfish so we got the Cured Kingfish, Umeboshi Mousse, Pressed Cucumber ($19). This dish is definitely Instagrammable and actually comes with little nori squares for you to make your own little wraps / burritos / Japanese-style tacos! It’s a great, refreshing dish, with the fish row and (I think) finger lime doing playful things on your tongue. You think you’re biting into a ball of fish roe, oh wait – no! It’s the tangy taste of the finger lime. Be careful not to over-fill your little wrap though, otherwise things can get very messy!

We also got the Not Fried Rice ($5) side which was the perfect complement to our meal. Seriously, I would order this little bowl of rice just as a snack on any given day!

To finish up we tried another little something something from the test kitchen – a Cardamom caramel tart with chocolate ganache. It was really tasty and not too sweet, but I found the pastry a little too crumbly which made it difficult to eat.
Make sure you get yourself along to EDITION COFFEE ROASTERS to try out their latest menu! You just might bump into us there!
