talk&spoon’s Fav Five Eats of 2017

It’s come to the end of the year again – how is this even possible?! I feel like it wasn’t so long ago that was I writing my Top 5 Eats of 2016. Here we go again for the year 2017. I feel I ate more this year than in 2016, probably because I wasn’t planning a wedding or going on a honeymoon! It was also the year that I re-did the design of my blog – hope you guys like it. Feedback is always welcome!

So in no particular order, here are my Fav Five Eats of 2017:

1. Bar Brosé – Darlinghurst, Sydney

It was with much sadness that this year saw the close of one of our local favourites in Darlinghurst, Bar Brosé. DS and I went there one last time and had the most epic chicken wing special ever. The gnocchi dish with lap cheung (pictured below) will also be missed. Check out my post here.

2. Templo – Hobart, Tasmania

Our short trip to Tasmania in July had many highlights, including many culinary ones. Our favourite restaurant of the trip was definitely Templo. We loved how unpretentious the menu was, yet the produce had much to boast about. One of the highlights was definitely the little pizza bites – literally deep fried bites of pizza! Check it out here.

3. nel. Restaurant Christmas Menu – Sydney

nel. Restaurant always makes it on the list, of course! This restaurant is really the whole package. From the interiors to the service, to chef Nelly Robinson’s dedication and love for his restaurant that you can see from the time he spends there working his butt off. This year’s Christmas menu was arguably even better than last year’s – check it out here.

4. Acme – Rushcutters Bay, Sydney

I didn’t actually do a blog post about Acme. Sometimes I just like to dine and enjoy the experience, without taking copious amounts of photos (weird, I know!). We literally had one of the best date nights of the year at Acme. Everything was perfect and super fun, we had many laughing fits with our waiter Cam. We also kept receiving dishes of food we hadn’t ordered – apparently ‘gifts’ from the kitchen. Hilarious night with amazing food. No blog post here unfortunately but check out their website instead.

5. Yakiniku Great – Sheung Wan, Hong Kong

Meatlovers around the world will know that beef is a great thing. Now take some of the best beef in the world, and eat it raw on a piece of sushi. Oh and then we also go more beef, with very strict self-cooking instructions. Beef will never be the same now, it will never be as GREAT as at Yakiniku Great! Check it out here.

Wishing you all a happy and safe New Year. Thank you for joining me on my adventures this year, and stay tuned for more in 2018! In the meantime, see you all on Instagram!

Love to you all xxx
